GM, Ford & Chrysler
INTERESTING...maybe the country should consider bailing them out to some degree
Nothing needs to be said.. Ford, Chrysler and GM's contributions after 9/11
An interesting commentary...You might find this of interest:
CNN Headline News did a short news listing regarding Ford and GM's contributions to the relief and recovery efforts in New York and Washington as a result of 9-11.
The findings are as follows.....
1. Ford - $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions of the same number plus 10 Excursions to NY Fire Dept. The company also
offered ER response team services and office space to displaced government employees.
2. GM - $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions of the same number and a fleet of Vans, SUV's, and Trucks.
3. Daimler Chrysler - $10 million to support of the children and victims of the Sept. 11 attack.
4. Harley Davidson motorcycles - $1 million and 30 new motorcycles to the New York Police Dept.
5. Volkswagen - Employees and management created a Sept 11 Foundation, funded initial with $2 million, for the assistance of the children and victims of the WTC.
6. Hyundai - $300,000 to the American Red Cross.
7. Audi - see VW
8. BMW - Nothing.
9. Daewoo - Nothing.
10. Fiat - Nothing.
11. Honda - Nothing despite boasting of second best sales month ever in August 2001
12. Isuzu - Nothing.
13. Mitsubishi - Nothing.
14. Nissan - Nothing.
15. Porsche - Nothing. Press release with condolences via the Porsche website.
16. Subaru - Nothing.
17. Suzuki - Nothing.
18. Toyota - Nothing despite claims of high sales in July and August 2001. Condolences posted on the website .
Whenever the time may be for you to purchase a new vehicle, keep this information in mind. You might want to give more consideration to a car manufactured by an American-owned and / or American based company.
Apart from Hyundai and Volkswagen, the foreign car companies contributed nothing at all to the citizens of the United States .... It's OK for these companies to take money out of this country, but it is apparently not acceptable to return some in a time of crisis. I believe we should not forget things like this. Say thank you in a way that gets their attention...

Thank God it is Friday
I think these pictures say it all!
This is my father probably around 1965. These were taken from a 8 mm film that my cousin had turned into a DVD, My uncle had 100s of these film reels. My cousin Vicki organized them all and finally picked 4 small reel to turn into a company to have put on a DVD. She wasn't sure how it would come back. Well the 4 smalls reels yielded 11 minutes of DVD. It is expensive BUT SO WORTH IT! When you think that not many of us (those that are around the 1/2 century mark) are on video these are a treasure. Granted there is no sound but still....We loved seeing our parents and ourselves, As you can see by the pictures my brothers and I come by our goofiness naturally..........................God only knows what the rest of those film reels hold I can hardly wait!

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant. I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging. Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 & 70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love.....I will
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old. I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things. Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and steril and imperfect. I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver
As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it).
This was sent to me this morning from my Daughter in law , Deidra!

Do you Believe?
Do you believe?
Do you see my ancestors looking on? This Black and White photo was taken of My Grandfather in the 1950s
I blew it up and this is what I saw...
The first photo is the entire picture, the second is a cropped version
Now look real hard in the trees (upper right hand section) and I will tell you at the bottom who I see..
I see in the center a Profile view of a Victorian women high collar, swept up hair, to her right is a man looking to the right dark eyes, Mustache (he is my civil war guy)Then to the left of the lady you can see a profile of a older gentleman, could be bald with a mustache starring to the left (right off the shoulder)
Do you see?
Here is a shot that I circled the Victorian Lady and the Civil war gentleman
